Ceanothus prostratus is a broadleaf evergreen groundcover shrub with green foliage. In spring and summer blue flowers emerge. Attracts bees making it an excellent addition to pollinator gardens. Grows well with sun - mostly sun and regular - low water. Drought tolerant once established. Prefers to be dry in summer. Does well in average, gritty, rocky and well-drained soil. A good option if you're seeking something for erosion control and verticillium wilt resistant.

A fast growing, very low growing (maybe 6 inches), evergreen sub-shrub that grows to about 8 feet wide. Makes and excellent ground cover, particularly if the desire is to have an area covered quickly. Prefers a warm sunny position but tolerates light shade. Blooms spring to early summer. Native to California and is also found outside of California, but is confined to western North America. Fixes nitrogen and is good for erosion control. Flowers are pollinated by bees. No Historical Uses found. Found in dry forest floors. Communitites located in Yellow Pine Forest, Red Fir Forest, Chaparral Between 3000 and 7800 feet.
