This trailing or climbing perennial vine behaves itself in the garden as it is deciduous and dies back each year. In the spring, the vine will grow to several feet in a matter of a few months producing a flower show of large white, funnel-shaped flowers Makes a living fence here at the nursery. In the wild, this plant is found on dry slopes, chaparral, and pine woodlands. Flowers from May to August. Grows throughout California, except the Mojave and Sonoran deserts. Western morning-glory is a good nectar source for moths and butterflies. The Karok people used the plant as an aphrodisiac. Found in slopes, ridges and chain link fences (at the watershed nursery). Communitites located in Chaparral, Foothill Woodland, Pine Forest Between 0 and 8500 feet .
