Red bloom, spring-fall.
A cool looking South African mesemb with unusual scarlet orange flowers that fade to bronze as they age.
Sky blue leaves with coppery orange & pink flowers?? Yes, yes please! I find the color combo on this ground-covering succulent wicked appealing. The fact that this plant tolerates extremes of heat & drought make it even better! Grows 2’ wide (or more, as it roots along the stem) & up to 1’ tall, with 1.5” flowers. Do avoid regular overhead watering. Malephoras are from a very dry part of South Africa & will definitely get a bit funky if they get too much wet from above. Besides this one detail, care is as easy as can be – in fact, this plant can take quite a bit of neglect. Dry parking strip? Okey-dokey! Recommended as a great landscaping plant for fire prone areas.
