Phlox divaricata is a broadleaf semi-evergreen perennial with green foliage. In spring and winter blue, purple and white flowers emerge. Attracts birds, butterflies and hummingbirds making it an excellent addition to pollinator gardens. Grows well with mostly sun - shade and even moisture - regular water. Does well in average, clay, gritty and well-drained soil.

Fragrant flowers in varying shades of blue are an early Spring treat in the woodland garden. There are several named forms of this plant, but I prefer the diversity of the species. Plants are about 6" to 18" inches tall and can take part sun to full shade.
A ground cover Phlox. A mat of green leaves with dancing lavender flowers on about 6-8 inch stems. Blooms spring into early summer.

Wild Blue Phlox (Phlox divaricata) has bright blue-pink flowers attractive to hummingbirds arriving for a springtime drink of nectar. It is Widely adaptable and mixes well with ferns and other spring flowers. Rhizomatous, it spreads slowly but steadily and is also commonly called Blue Phlox or Woodland Phlox. As a woodland plant, it does best in light to medium shade. Hardy to Zones 3 - 8.
