Tiny little holly with deep green toothed foliage. A 10 year old plant will be 6”-8” tall and wide. The fruit are dark red in fall.
Like the see-your-face-in-it shine, and clean bright-dark-green color of Holly leaves but not have room for a tree?... here's your baby: this small, compact shrub with near-full-sized leaves is perfect for border, edging, rockgarden. S/M
The Rock Garden Japanese Holly is a berry-producing female shrub. Larger leaves are perfect for large-scaled gardens or in-ground gardens. Berries look like miniature apples (not edible.) Globe shape. 1" to 2" per year. Cold Hardy Zones 5-8 or to -20 °F. Heat Zones: 7-5. Part sun to part shade. Regular water. Pot is 4" in diameter
A perfectly miniaturized holly with beautiful dark, glossy, spiny green leaves but forming a tight little mound that will take a decade to reach a foot tall. Rock Garden is a female, so if you have male hollies around the garden, you'll get pretty little red berries. This has been a good grower for us, despite the fact that most hollies don't find our soil acidic enough. Zone 5
This is one of the first true dwarf compact hollies and only grows to about 12-18" in 10 years. It has a dense, low spreading habit. The leaves are similar to the I. meserveae but they are an olive green color and only about 1-2" long with small spines. This holly has red berries held in compact clusters. RARE!
