Nursery contributed plant descriptions

Flowers and foliage are a bit like officianalis but the fragrance is much different. Pleasant but not something that goes with poultry disermas is from a cold region in the Karoo desert and surprisingly tough. ZONE 6
A mound forming Sage from South Africa, densely clothed in velvety, heavily textured, sage green, vaguely lance shaped leaves. Gentle spikes of white, sometimes pink tinged, hooded, two lipped flowers are endlessly produced all year. Drought tolerant and quick growing. It's soft appearance and subtle charm makes it an ideal foil and background plant or otherwise planted with other mediterraneanesque shrubs like Cistus, Phlomis and Nepeta. I suspect in the white form it would look unusually appropriate by the coast, in the foreground of a view over the ocean. Left to it's own it can become quite formidable after a few years and could probably be cut down annually, when active basal growth is seen, to reduce it's size. An occasional light trim to remove accumulated flower stalks might be needed if your a neat freak, otherwise new growth and flowers hide them in time.
