Nursery contributed plant descriptions

Bold blue-silver leaves in expanding clumps form a good size patch if unhindered; tall summer stems 5-6’ tall are topped by clouds of coral-bronze plumes that wave in the breeze and are great for cutting. Sun to part shade in the large border. Most soils with regular moisture. Impressive perennial from many aspects!
Giant background plant with gorgeous blue-green lobed leaves and airy white/pink flowers. Provides dramatic height, texture, and leaf colour to the sun border. Pull out any over-enthusiastic intruders each spring to restrain its enthusiasm. If you want it to flower lower, shear off a foot or so once or twice during the season. Though it spreads I wouldn't be without its drama in my garden. Note: It doesn't like growing in pots so it will look thin at the nursery. Just plant it, you'll see.
An aggressively spreading, perennial, member of the Poppy family. An excellent weed suppressor ideal for large pots or filling in those difficult narrow beds against walls where it's foliage and form will be shown off to best effect. From late Summer plume like flower-heads appear atop the stiff stems of deeply lobed, highly glaucous, white backed leaves. A beautiful thug that is always of interest, from the unusual almost metallic foliage to the dead stems left in Winter, it is probably the flashing of the leaf undersides in the slightest breeze that I enjoy most. Excellent for picking. Cut back to ground-level in winter if your a neat freak, or leave the stems until spring for that authentic wintery effect, pehaps with an underplanting of Oxalis purpurea 'The Duchess' and Viola tricolor or any combination of winter bulbs and annuals.
