Nursery contributed plant descriptions

A double flowered selection of the above described species.
Once called Bats in the Belfry, and the original Canterbury bell, C. trachelium has a long history in gardens, in England and the colonies. This selection has tousled double blooms arrayed along sturdy stems, a trouble free heirloom that has stood the test of time admirably. Deadhead for longer bloom in early summer.
Another exciting campanula: 'Bernice' has rich purple-blue double flowers with pointed petals that flare outwards just at the edges of the bell of the flower. The leaves are bristly. Dependable, hardy and easy to grow.
Profusions of showy violet-blue flowers, their delicate layers of petals opening widely, embellish strong leafy stems above a neat mound of jagged-edged basal foliage. An excellent choice for the rock garden, tuck 'Bernice' in a crevice with gray-leafed Salvia 'Bee's Bliss' nearby.
An evergreen, clumping, perennial ground cover. In summer, tall spires of double, mid purple, bell shaped flowers arise majestically above low mounds of foliage. One of a few reliably flowering Campanulas for our climate. Large colonies mass flowering are a sight to behold. Campanulas prefer an Alkaline soil, in Acidic soil they benefit from the addition of lime.
