Penstemon davidsonii is a lovely little native beard tongue with lavender pink flowers overlain with an iridescent blue. Foliage is evergreen with serrated edges resembling little holly leaves. Great for the front of the border in full sun and in well-drained soils. Also great in rock gardens. Popular with bees and hummingbirds.

This western North American native is a flat, mat-forming perennial typically found in rocky, alpine and sub-alpine fields and forests. Its flowering branches bear many beautiful lavender-rose pink, tubular blooms which may seem unusually large for plants no taller than 4 inches.
