Rudbeckia hirta 'Cherokee Sunset' is a fast-growing broadleaf deciduous perennial with green foliage. In summer bronze and orange flowers emerge. Features fuzzy texture. Attracts bees, birds and butterflies making it an excellent addition to pollinator gardens. Grows well with sun - mostly sun and regular water. Does well in average, rich and well-drained soil. Rich Velvety flowers in sunset tones of yellow, orange, red, bronze and mahogany; some two-tone colors. Blooms range from 3" to 4 ½" across, are double and semi-double, and long lasting as cut flowers. Plants are 18"-24" tall, spreads to a width of 12"-15" - Prefers moist, fertile well-drained soil, although drought tolerant, deer resistant. Cherokee Sunset will flower profusely in the first year. Self-sows freely; deadhead if you do not want volunteer seedlings next season.
An “All American Selections Winner” for 2002, ‘Cherokee Sunset’ offers large (3-4.5”) double + semi-double flowers in a blend of sunset colors - yellow, orange, red, bronze and mahogany. A profuse bloomer, the yummy, fat blooms are well displayed on strongly branched stems to a height of 30". Long blooming too, from July till frost, you’ll get a constant supply of long lasting cut flowers. Very EASY to grow, Rudbeckias like sun and need only average garden soil. Deer proof, too!
