Beautiful as climbing hydrangea may be, this cultivar may be just a wee bit more beautiful with its leaves edged in gold; a clinging vine (to 75') with large 6-10" flat clusters of white flowers. PSh/M

This climbing hydrangea has small, dark green leaves that are widely margined with golden yellow. In the spring and early summer the plant has a golden glow to it. We have Guy Mitchum to thank for this fine vine for the shaded garden.

Miranda' is a climbing Hydrangea and will cling to wood or bricks with aerial roots to climb up trees or buildings. It is a great alternative to English Ivy because it is slower grower, far less invasive, and is much less likely to girdle trees than Ivy. You also have the added benefit of this vine producing beautiful flowers in mid-summer. You can keep plants small with regular pruning to keep them in a shrub form or even grow them in a large container. Some gardeners train their Miranda Hydrangeas to grow along a fence horizontally rather than straight up.

A variegated form of Petiolaris Fantastic variegation on the leaves of this beautiful climbing hydrangea are a true knockout. I find it a bit slow to grow and bloom, like the other petiolaris clan, and needs a few years in the ground to take off. I finally had a bloom on mine in the garden and the heat of the summer burned it to a crisp. Like other variegated hydrangeas, this one needs a bit more shade to keep the leaves and blooms from scorch.

A variegated form of the more common climbing hydrangea with leaves having creamy-white edging. Tends to be slower to establish, but once settled in will begin to climb. Typical, lace-cap white flowers in summer. The naming of 'Mirranda' has an interesting background. Guy Meacham, a nurseryman in Oregon, found the original sport on a regular Hydrangea petiolaris and propagated it. He choose to name it for his first born daughter 'Miranda', but was so nervous filing out the birth certificate he misspelled her name! So Hydrangea 'Mirranda' has 2 'R's!

A gold edged variegated form of Climbing Hydrangea, not to be confused with Hydrangea macrophylla serrata 'Miranda'. This 'Miranda' is a spectacular new vine; young plants take a few years to come into their own but will eventually become quite large. There is some confusion about the variegated forms of Hydrangea anomola ssp. petiolaris, 'Miranda' and 'Firefly' were independently discovered at about the same time; unfortunately they are nearly indistinguishable and may have been mixed up (not by us) during early propagation efforts.

Gold variegated Climbing Hydrangea which would dearly love to climb up the trunk of a Doug Fir and brighten up the somber wood. White lace cap flowers but it is really the leaves. This will self-adhere to tree trunks or walls so only initial staking might be needed. Slower than the species.
