Grows well with sun - bright shade and even moisture - occasional water. Does well in rich and well-drained soil. A good option if you're seeking something seaside / salt tolerant.

This is a smallish cultivar, 3-4' tall with slightly arching maroon leaves. A great choice for a containerized specimen as well as out in the garden! Not to be confused with Phormium tenax 'Rubrum' (the 6-8' monster)… Sun to light shade, decent drainage, do not plant too deep! Deer resistant. Hardy to about 20 degrees (ours have been root hardy into the teens, but slow to recover).
