'Crown Jewel' is a new gardenia selected for its fragrant double blooms and cold hardiness to zone 6 with protection. In the garden, its dwarf growth habit usually reaches only 2' high but it often spreads to 4' wide. 'Crown Jewel' boasts double, white, medium-sized flowers that bloom slightly later than many gardenias, usually in mid June. A light pruning directly after the flowers have past will often stimulate more blooms in late summer. We also recommend 'Crown Jewel' as a container plant. Its short stature and enticing fragrance makes it a highly desired addition to any windowsill or indoor plant collection.
