Nursery contributed plant descriptions

Four creamy-white perpendicular "petals" (really bracts) form a bright and prolific show of late spring flowers on this small (20x20') woodland beauty; dark-green leaves are unusually shiny and turn a showy bright red in the fall color, produces salmon-red fruit that birds love. S-PSh/M
C. KOUSA ‘GREEN SLEEVES’ - is a white bracted form of C. kousa. It is supposed to grow faster and be bushier at maturity.
Cappiello and Shadow, in their book DOGWOODS call it one of the very best kousa varieties out there, and grower experience across a broad range confirms their sense of it. Strong growth early makes it a great nursery plant, and its handsome foliage and abundant flowers give it universal appeal. Flowers suffused with a hint of green on cream. Heavy fruit set against deep green waxy foliage that turns to robust shades of red and purple. The only season it seems to be ordinary is winter but how long will it take for someone to develop a line of Greensleeves wine? Can a good KY or TN distillate be far behind for the darkest days of the year? THEN it would be fully a 4-season plant, deserving of a special category in the Great Plant Picks or Award of Garden Merit!
