    Deeply lobed leaves and enormous height make this tropical 'monster" an eye-catching addition to the summer garden. People will stop and stare at this unusual Elephant Ear whose leaves easily reach 3-4' in length. The uniquely mottled stems give it more character. You will probably be the only one in your neighborhood with a 'Malaysian Monster' in your garden. Easy to grow in containers, this Elephant Ear likes plentiful water and fertilizer during the growing season.

    Alocasia portei (Malaysian Monster) this large growing species has some of the most dramatic foliage in the Alocasia family. The pinnate leaves are long 2 to 3 feet and 2 to 3 feet wide. These large segmented leaves give a very tropical feel. The petioles are dark brown and streaked. Plants can grow from 4' to over 10' tall in idea conditions.
