    Nursery contributed plant descriptions

Ruellia species are unusual little plant that grows small trunks and reminds me of a dwarf cordyline with large purple flowers. I have been able to over winter this plant by mulching 4 to 6 inches in winter. A great plant for the hardy tropical garden. Foliage: strap like foliage on small trunks Flowers: nice large purple flowers 1 to 2 inches Height: 6 inches to 1 foot tall maybe larger in tropical gardens
