Nursery contributed plant descriptions

The base color is blue-lavender, overlaid with what I call a 'watercolor wash' of paler and darker highlights, centering on a solidly violet eye. A rare old cultivar from the mid-20th century, it was introduced by the famous British phlox breeder B.H.B. Symons-Jeune, who points out that it is "certainly in the front rank. The deep violet pips, nearly 2" across are very round and lie flatly together without any gaps, and the plant . . . has a very good constitution."
