Aptly named Hesperis, (the botanical name for Sweet or Dame's Rocket), this phlox does indeed closely resemble that unrelated plant. The florets are the smallest I've ever seen, less than 2 cm., and are of the same rose-magenta color as Rocket. The flowering heads are small and tight, but produced in great abundance on many side shoots. It is vigorous and quite tall, and blooms in the latter part of August. Adds variety to the phlox border, and looks great with heleniums and asters.
