Nursery contributed plant descriptions

A very elegant woodland plant native to most of North America east of the Rockies. This selection is a rare pink form with star-like flowers centred with yellow stamens. The flowers arise from the soil clasped by the interesting leaves. A star of the spring woodland garden. The common name arises from the juice extracted from the root of the plant which is bright red. Nursery grown.
The very rare pink form. Deep pink buds open to light pink flowers, fading eventually to shell pink but keeping the dark outside color. Adding to the drama, flower- and leave stems are dark pink, the leaves pink-infused while emerging.
