Micromeria thymifolia

Pink Savory is a rare member of the genus Satureja that includes the more common Winter Savory and Summer Savory. Culinary as well as ornamental, it has overtones of oregano and thyme and is one of the ingredients in the Middle Eastern spice mixture called Zatar. Pink Savory may be used in any recipe calling for savory, a little different but quite nice. It is tough and quite drought-tolerant, about 1 foot high and two feet wide. The pink flowers (that can be used as a pungent garnish) cover it from May until mid-June. Also sometimes known as Savory of Crete where it grows on Crete's dry, rocky hillsides. This is one tough, pretty, and satisfying xeric plant. Minimum temperature: 0 °F

A rarely offered mint relative with pleasing aromatic foliage. Valuable for it's long blooming season and drought tolerance.
