Nursery contributed plant descriptions

Hailing from South Africa's higher elevations, this intriguing Dierama is not only the most diminutive, but one of the hardiest as well. Low bladed greenery gives way to slender erect wands, each bearing up to five pendant, delicate-looking flowers characterized by soft mauve shades and openly flared petals. Papery white bracts with red-brown flecks and veins accompany the bell-shaped blooms, while small cormlets produced at lower leaf axils are unique to this species.
(DWARF ANGEL’S FISHING ROD) This mini Dierama has very fine, evergreen, grassy leaves and a diminutive size at a mere 15-24” tall and clumping to about 12” wide. It hails from higher altitudes in So Africa and is decorated with light mauve-lavender funnels that dangle earthward from translucent silvery bracts from stems that rise above the foliage. The flowers, reminiscent of hand painted, finest bone china, appear in mid summer. Prefers well drained soil, moisture and full sun – it tolerates buffeting coastal winds. Everybody’s darling! USDA Z7
One of the hardier ones, with relatively narrow foliage and lots of medium-sized, nodding bells in lavender (mainly), lavender-pink or violet flowers on arching stems.
