Zn 9. Small fragrant evergreen foliage.
Tasmania has truly sent us her best in this alpine mint. Such an ornamental, tidy evergreen, 3' x 3' with very pretty, frilly lavender-white flowers dotted with gold, and fine-textured minty leaves. You'll enjoy it no end! It's particularly successful in the maritime Pacific Northwest. Minimum temperature: 0°F
This little sweetheart from down under came to us via the University of California at Santa Cruz Arboretum. Its dense and fragrant foliage alone is enough reason to grow it, but in midsummer it covers itself in perfect, white, outfacing bells that perfume the air. To 3-4 ft tall in sun to part shade. Prefers well-drained soil and moist conditions. Dislikes sunlight on wet foliage. Frost hardy to 10 °F, USDA zone 8.
Upright woody perennial or subshrub grown for its highly aromatic foliage and abundant white or palest lavender blossoms held from late spring through fall. Plants require full sun in well-drained soils and perform best with regular water during the growing season and moderate water the rest of the year. Hardy to 20F. Southeast Austrailia, Tasmania.
Alpine Bush Mint. This high elevation Aussie handled our 2010-11 Winter of Horror with scarcely a whimper. Dense shrublet with rounded packed leaves minty when crushed and white flowers with red-yellow-purple in the throat from spring and sporadically until fall. Excellent plant.
