Polygala x dalmaisiana is a broadleaf evergreen perennial shrub with blue and green foliage. In fall, spring and summer lavender and purple flowers emerge. Features glaucous texture. Grows well with sun - mostly sun and even moisture - occasional water. Does well in average and well-drained soil.
Some tender plants are a pain in pots but this pea relative with seductive, frilly, exuberant, and exotic purple flowers over several months has been thriving in the same pot for years. And that's good because it's a bit tender and wants to be let indoors in winter, at least in the Northwest. 4' x 4'.
Minimum temperature: 20°F
Medium-sized shrub 3 to 6' tall with a spreading habit and year round purple-red to rosy-red flowers. Shearing this shrub frequently promotes a more compact, bushy form. Not particularly long-lived. Garden origin.
