Nursery contributed plant descriptions

Has small orange yellow flowers around Christmas time. All hamamelis listed by Gossler Farms in the Fall/Spring 2024/2025 catalog are hardy to at least -12° in their Springfield, Oregon garden, and all are grafted plants.
Exceptionally early flowers a deep reddish-purple in the center becoming golden yellow-orange at the tips, whether or not they make it for Christmas we cannot say, but the will be some of the first; a wonderful 9-12' shrub for the understory, deep-green leaves are followed by showy yellow fall color. Because it is a true vernalis and not a hybrid, Christmas Cheer is one of the earliest of the Witch Hazels with fragrant purplish flowers.
This Hamamelis blooms even earlier than the rest. As the name implies, you'll see it as early as Christmas. The color is a unique, soft, reddish purple. The small flower clusters really pack a wallop when it comes to fragrance! The most intensely fragrant species of our collection at Gardens, we find it reminiscent of gardenias.
