Nursery contributed plant descriptions

(ROSE PLANTAIN) This rarely offered variety was a cottage garden favorite in England and Europe in Medieval times. A rugged little perennial clump to 6” wide has a flattish rosette of green leaves and flowering stems to 10”, with the typical spike of the species morphed into a striking rosettes of ruffled leaf bracts. You may find in bloom most anytime of year. May reseed but the anatomy of the flower ensures the seed stays close to the mother. Prefers well drained soil and full sun, but takes less…we keep one in a pot where we can appreciate its intricacy. Deer resistant, very easy.
