Nursery contributed plant descriptions

Pinus banksiana 'Bush's Twister' - A dwarf form of Jack Pine. Needles are species size and bright kelly green. Plant is a dwarf, contorting plant. Like a small 'Uncle Fogey'. Introduced by Dick Bush of Canby, Oregon.
This terrific selection of Jack pine boasts unique, sculptural forms. Leaders can grow every which way, even horizontally, and the branches twist and turn, so no two specimens are alike. The result is an informal, upright, evergreen mound with contorted branches throughout. (Note: this selection is likely the same as 'Uncle Fogy.' We cannot see a difference in the young plants, which have the same growth rate and twisting branches throughout. A 'Bush's Twister' we saw at the nursery of the late Dick Bush of Canby, OR is upright with twisted branches. Some 'Uncle Fogy' specimens we have seen are less upright. This shape difference can be attributed to grower training or propagation using a side branch as opposed to the top whorl of growth.)
