Nursery contributed plant descriptions

This beautiful spruce is rare in cultivation and, due to deforestation, also endangered in the wild. This 60-90' conifer is native to the north facing mountainsides and canyons of northwest Mexico, discovered in 1942 by botanist Maximo Martinez. Its distinguishing features are scaly flaking bark and short, very sharp, uniformly-colored steely gray needles. Its coloring is similar to Blue Spruce but it is much more heat tolerant. S/M
A tough little dog and a favorite of our local horned owls (our local pair was shot in the middle of the night by one of our low life neighbors) but I digress send out INS this Mexican native is living in the arboretum at Gees.
A blue-green conical spruce that is similar to Picea pungens. Needles are very sharp. New growth is powder blue with an almost white stem.
