Jordan Japanese Maple enters spring with bright lemon leaves, turning to a more lime-green color with a red tint around the edges in summer. Jordan Japanese Maple is liked for its fast-growing habits and adds an excellent addition to your landscape. Fall color is shades of yellow, orange, and scarlet.
Spring leaves are bright yellow with pink-orange margins and pink petioles. Summer color is yellow which does not burn in full sun. In shade leaves are yellow-green.
This full moon maple can take partial to full sun. The foliage is golden all summer. Should only get 12’-15’ tall and 6’ wide. Great orange fall color.
Shirasawanum maples known as “full moon maples” can be identified by looking at the flowers and subsequent seed pods [samaras]. If they point up rather than hang it is a shirasawanum – palmatum species hang down. Jordan is a relatively new maple that provides an alternative to the ‘Golden Full Moon Maple’ – Aureum. Jordan is also a ‘full moon maple’ and it grows much faster than Aureum – Jordan can handle more sun without burning as an Aureum would. In comparison Jordan appears to be upright and narrower than Aureum which tends to be as wide as tall. A medium sized tree with wonderful color throughout the growing season. The new growth is a little more of a lemon color than Aureum. Summer color is a golden lemon and lime green with a red tint around the edges of the leaves. Fall colors are exquisite from yellow to gold, orange and scarlet. This cultivar is highly desired because of the rapid growth – compared to Aureum and the wonderful yellow/lime green spring color. Jordan may reach 9-10′ tall and 5′ wide in 10 years. Once established hardy to -10 degrees, USDA Zone 6.

Lemon yellow spring foliage makes this Full Moon maple a unique addition to any garden. Green leaves in the summer turn to beautiful colors of reddish orange to brilliant red in autumn. Is known to be able to take slightly more sun than 'Aureum'. Introduced by Fratelli Ghiradelli of Italy and named after his son.
Upright with bushy growth, 'Jordan' has yellow leaves that resist sunburn. Leaves emerge a pretty light orange before becoming brilliant yellow in summer, with some orange returning in fall. Light and bright and small! 8' T x 4' W
'Jordan' is sure to be an eye-catcher with its neon yellow leaves in early spring. This vigorous maple is both very cold hardy and heat tolerant. Its leaves may appear tinged with red if planted in full sun. Fall colors are red and orange. The bark is gray with vertical white striping. 'Jordan' was discovered by Fratelli Gilardelli Nursery in Italy. Its name is the English version of his son Giordano.
An upright Japanese Maple with a full bushy form. Leaves are bright yellow (to yellow-green if grown in shade). Fall color is spectacular yellow to yellow/red. A recent introduction from Italy.
Recent introduction from Italy - Gilardelli Nursery. Yellow foliage all summer makes it similar to 'Aureum', but it's more vigorous - a more profitable "nursery plant" due to its predictable growth. In our hoop houses, it has a tendency to burn during the summer, so it will benefit from afternoon shade in most areas.
Jordan is a great golden shirasawanum in my book; the leaf shape is ovate which I like, and it can grow in the sun.
