Nursery contributed plant descriptions

Shared with us by the Arboretum at University of California at Santa Cruz, the plant apparently no longer exists in the nomenclature. Even if it is a figment of our imagination this dense little shrub,to 2 ft x 3 ft wide, with broad dark green leaves tinted red and adorned with lilac flowers in spring and occasionally through summer has performed very well in our garden. Typical culture as for other hebes, no extreme drought or excessive heat, and good drainage. This one frost hardy to about 16 °F, mid USDA zone 8.
