Nursery contributed plant descriptions

Collected several years ago by plantsman Eric Hammond and clearly related to the famed V. davidii, this graceful and upright 6-8' shrub glows with large, hot-coal tinted leaves, to about 4", emerging deep red! and turning green with age. White flowers in spring are typical of the genus. Best in half shade to full sun with some summer water in dry areas. Very useful as a screen. Frost hardy into USDA zone 7.
