Nursery contributed plant descriptions

The large bluish-green foliage is edged in creamy white with the variegation creating a silver cast to the wavy foliage. Loose spikes of deep reddish-purple curving tubular flowers are produced throughout the growing season on established plants. The tropical Variegated Caricature Plant has a naturally upright to bushy habit and makes for an easy shade-loving container plant. As a conservatory or greenhouse plant the Variegated Caricature Plant can reach 4-6' high although it is easily maintained as a 2-3' high container plant with periodic pruning. This is a frost / freeze sensitive species and so should be protected or overwintered indoors in a well lit area. There has been much confusion in the nursery trade as to the correct name for this species and we have seen it classified as an Odontonema, Pseuderanthemum, and Eranthemum while many consider Graptophyllum to be the correct genus.
A tropical with erect dark green waxy foliage splotched with irregular areas of grey green, buttermilk, and yellow. The unique flower spikes are 4 petaled with dots of magenta in the throat. Very easy to grow in the normal home. Partial sun and 40 °F minimum.
