Nursery contributed plant descriptions

Pronounced 'John's Dilly' (with a bit of a French accent!) Wonderful deep green fine-textured needles; one of the best Dwarf Albertas. An introduction by Iseli nursery.
This is one of our favorite trees for miniature gardening, and a best seller. This Dwarf Spruce is a pleasure to grow year 'round. It keeps it's shape over time with it dense, new needles twisting out of the end of the branches in the springtime. Good anchor tree for a miniature garden bed. Can be decorated for the holidays. True diminutive form of the dwarf Alberta spruce. Pronounced 'John's Dilly' and named after its founder, Jean Iseli. Upright cone shape. Growth rate: 2 to 3" year. Cold hardy zones: 2-6, or -40 °F. Heat zones 6-1. Part or full sun. Regular water. An outdoor plant.
Zones: 2-8. This is LiveScale© perfection for all small scale plantings such as garden railroads, fairy gardens, container gardens and troughs. A smaller, slower growing sport of the Dwarf Alberta spruce, Jean's Dilly has dark green short needles forming a narrow pointed cone. Very slow growth (untrimmed) to about 12 inches at 10 years. Jean's Dilly is a great choice for hardiness, easy care and needing little or no pruning to stay small. Prefers full sun, slightly acid soil, kept moist but well drained. It has performed well even in hot summer areas with automated, regular irrigation and afternoon shade.
