Leathery lobed leaves with unusually fuzzy maroon petioles, though emerges green. Low vining habit. Leaf lobes become more prominent with age.
Philodendron squamiferum, or Red Bristle Philodendron, displays dark green, split lobe, leathery leaves with fuzzy red petioles. A fast growing vine that needs support to climb. Very tolerant of home conditions. Philodendron are best grown in fertile, organic, acidic soil that is moist but never waterlogged. Allow the soil to mostly dry out between watering. Prefers bright, indoor light but does not take well to direct sunlight. Protect your plant from frost!
RED BRISTLE PHILODENDRON - A self heading philodendron with long red bristled petioles and deeply 5 lobed medium green leaves up to 18" long. The bristles turn red as the leaf ages. Bristles are soft non spiny. Likes part sun to shade, let dry between waterings, min. temp 55 degrees. Easy care houseplant.
