Nursery contributed plant descriptions

Better known as the Lidded Pitcher Plant has wide fleshy leaves producing the most unusual pitcher like vessels at the tips of each leaf. These pitches are green and mottled with red, containing a liquid pepsin which attracts insects. The insects drown in the liquid and digested by the plant. They prefer warmth and humidity, bright light and protection for direct sun. The plant pictured is mature, showing the detail of the pitchers. We sell well-rooted 4" starter plants which will develop into mature plants like the picture.
