The leaves of this rare beauty emerge a deep coppery pink and mature to a bronzy green and are broadly to narrowly edged and splashed with cream. The leaf undersides are a solid rich dark orange-pink color and the plant is often at its best where both sides of the foliage can be fully enjoyed making the Chinese Croton an excellent choice for a colorful and easy hanging basket specimen or container specimen. An easy to grow and rewarding tropical container plant. Where hardy the Chinese Croton makes a beautiful small shrub or can even be trained into a small tree form. Provide good to excellent drainage and average fertility for best results.
"Chinese Croton Firestorm" - "Buta Buta" - "Variegated Blindness Tree" - A bushy shrub with beautiful colorful glossy leaves splashed grey green and cream having reddish purple undersides. Likes morning sun and afternoon shade. Minimum 50 degrees. Inconspicous white flowers. New growth is bronzy red. Sap may cause skin irritation. Do not get sap in your eyes. Hardy zone 10-13
This is a dramatic variegated form of the regular Excocaria. It grows slower for us and the stems are more flexible and therefore pendent.
