Nursery contributed plant descriptions

Was discovered by Wada at Hakoneya Nursery, Japan. The flowers are golden yellow at the tip of the flower and deep red at the base. The overall effect is orange-coppery in late winter. All hamamelis listed by Gossler Farms in the Fall/Spring 2024/2025 catalog are hardy to at least -12° in their Springfield, Oregon garden, and all are grafted plants.
For pale orange flowers, Chris Lane (who holds the British National Collection of Witch Hazels) recommends 'Glowing Embers. A bit of a challenge to establish but well worth the trouble. The flowers are large, lightly scented, with yellowish petals at the tips but then reddening toward the base -- like glowing embers the overall effect from a distance is light orange! Has a wide-spreading habit.

This new cultivar was found by Wada at Hakaneya Nursery in Japan. It has bi-color blooms of gold petal tips and deep red at the base. Very nice.
