Nursery contributed plant descriptions

Rich golden yellow flowers quickly age to light golden yellow to create a brightly contrasting effect against the deep green glossy foliage of this compact growing Firecracker Flower or Crossandra. These exceptionally free flowering tropical plants are a standout in lightly shaded to partly sunny locations in containers or in the garden. Provide Crossandras with a moderately fertile, average moist acid soil for flowers from spring to frost. Can be overwintered in containers in a warm bright location indoors where they may provide color all winter under good conditions. Crossandras are excellent for mixed containers and in the garden for bright color in shaded areas where they often flower until frost. If kept from freezing temperatures they can easily reach 3-4' high or can easily be pruned to keep them in bounds. They can tolerate full sun but at least here in the hot South they have a tendency to curl their leaves on the hottest days and do not perform as well.
YELLOW SPLASH FIRECRACKER PLANT - Glossy dark green leaves cover this compact 10" plant. Intense vibrant dazzling yellow blooms are held high above the foliage giving color throughout the summer. Likes full to part sun and hardy zone 10-11. Very heat tolerant, great for beds and borders or containers, also a great houseplant. Flowers are basically yellow with a splash of white at the tips.
