Evergreen shrub that blooms nearly year round in warm areas; tubular crimson red flowers in clusters attract hummingbirds, butterflies and bees. Upright arching stems 6-8’ tall in clumps 3-5’ wide look nice in a corner. Full sun (part shade if summers are hot) most garden soils, regular summer water; deer resistant; being in the tomato family, this plant is toxic.
Cestrum newellii ‘Ruby Clusters’ is a tropical shrub that displays fragrant, showy clusters of scarlet red, tubular flowers followed by reddish-purple berries. Exhibits dark green, evergreen foliage. A tender perennial. Plant in a sheltered sunny position with moist, rich, well-drained soil. Jessamine is great for butterfly or hummingbird gardens. Deadhead regularly to encourage continuous bloom.
Just this side of tender, but worth taking a cutting to overwinter. Tall shrub, 6-8 ft x 3 ft wide. Ripe burgundy flowers are followed by glowing carmine berries. Sun or half sun, normal water. Excellent in a container as well. Evergreen to 20F and root hardy in USDA zone 8.
