Nursery contributed plant descriptions

Yaupon is native shrub found in a variety of areas including the woods, banks, forest edges and swamps, from Virginia to Florida, Arkansas and Texas. 'Nana' is a dwarf cultivar of the species becoming a 3-6 foot mounding shrub which takes well to pruning or shearing and is extremely adaptable to many growing conditions. Native American Indians used the leaves to make a ritual brew which, when consumed in large quantities, caused a cleansing now honored by the specific epithet. S-PSh/M-W
This is an excellent small shrub for use as a low hedge or foundation plant. 3'x3' in ten years. Can be kept small with shearing, but it is able to grow 5' tall and wide after 25 years.
