Merritt's Supreme hydrangea is a popular one, for good reason. It's a little smaller in size, no larger than 4' so it's good for containers and gardens that are already crammed full. We call it compact rather than dwarf. Though smaller in size, it gets big mopheads. The flowers are pink/crimson in alkaline, pink-purple in neutral and blue in acid. The sepals are serrated and very crowded on the head. Gives the mophead a full, intense feeling. Another feature we like is the good antiquing/aging one typically sees on Merrett's Supreme. Check out the last pic, but we read they antique green red purple tinged.

A perfect bloom for a perfect plant. This dwarf sized plant blooms a beautiful pink or purple in high acid soil. Merritt's Supreme will flower as a young plant with large blooms. An early-flowering hydrangea with dark green leaves that endure into the fall. The flower heads stay in perfect condition turning to green, red, or purple autumnal tints. You'll savor this fine hydrangea in the garden or on the patio.
