Nursery contributed plant descriptions

The Holik Hamelia produces clusters of 1", burnt orange tubular flowers from summer to fall on this beautiful, tropical looking, shrub-like perennial. Large lush glossy, rounded, tropical foliage sets the flowers off nicely. This unusual hybrid Hamelia was developed from crossing Golden Bells with the Mexican Firebush and like it's parents it loves the heat and sun and is an excellent choice for Hummingbirds. As yet we have not trialed the Holik Hamelia in the garden but expect it's hardiness to be similar to Golden Bells although it may well be as hardy as the Mexican Firebush and is certainly worth trialing in similar areas. Holik is likely to grow even larger than it's standard 4-5' high in mild winter climates and size can be controlled with periodic pruning.
