Verbena canadensis 'Homestead Red' blooms it's heart out from May until fall with bright, scarlet red flowers held above glossy dark green foliage. Vigorously spreading and a great choice for the low maintenance garden. This one may not always survive cold wet winters but enhance your chances with well-drained sunny sites.
The color of this perennial Verbena certainly pops in the garden with its clusters of vivid, nearly glowing red flowers that are produced over a long period from spring well into summer and often again in fall and may flower through winter in mild winter regions. A close cousin of the ever reliable Homestead Purple, Homestead Carpet Red Verbena produces a groundcover-like mat of low trailing stems. Allow it to spill from containers, baskets, or as a loose groundcover in the garden. The trailing Verbenas are one of the earliest flowering perennials in our gardens and provide the early bird butterflies with plenty of choice nectar at a time when few other perennials are in flower.
