Nursery contributed plant descriptions

Simply stunning but somewhat mysterious, best describes our new hibiscus 'Bayou Rose,' a profuse bloomer of fully double 5" flowers with chameleon qualities. On the first day the blooms are lavender with a slightly ruffled pink edge. On the second day, as the flowers age, the blooms turn completely lavender (as shown in the main photo) and their beauty is captivating. 'Bayou Rose' has many good features. It blooms at a young age and makes a nice, erect bush perfect for a potted plant or a standard. As with most hibiscus, grow in full sun with a steady supply of water and fertilizer.
Bayou Rose produces a profusion of medium-sized billowy double blossoms that are purple at their heart and fade to a deep rose at the outer edges of each petal. Bayou Rose won Best in Show at the 2008 American Hibiscus Society show and we can certainly see why! In hot summer climates provide Cajun Hibiscus with midday and afternoon shade for the best looking foliage and flowers.Image courtesy of Dupont Nursery.
