Penstemon laxiflorus is a broadleaf deciduous perennial with green foliage. In spring and summer lavender and pink flowers emerge. Attracts bees and butterflies making it an excellent addition to pollinator gardens. Grows well with mostly sun - mostly shade and regular - low water. Drought tolerant once established. Does well in acidic and well-drained soil. A good option if you're seeking something verticillium wilt resistant.

Nodding Penstemon produces loose spikes of 1" light pink to nearly lavender tubular flowers in spring. A drought tolerant clump forming native perennial with a tidy habit that attracts Hummingbirds, butterflies, and multitude of other pollinators.Provide this native Penstemon with a well-drained soil but it will do well in average garden soils with average moisture. May reseed but never seems to be aggressive, deadhead to prevent unwanted seedlings. Nodding Beardtongue flowers at the same time as our native Coreopsis and they bring out the best in each other when planted together. This is also a good choice for wildflower gardens.
