Tecoma capensis 'Flame' is a broadleaf semi-evergreen shrub or vine with. In fall, summer and winter orange flowers emerge. Attracts butterflies and hummingbirds making it an excellent addition to pollinator gardens. Grows well with sun - mostly sun and even moisture water. Drought tolerant once established. This Almost Eden exclusive introduction boasts clusters of glowing deep reddish orange 2" upward facing tubular blooms that are perfect for Hummingbirds and butterflies. Flowering from summer and often well into winter this hardy heat and sun-loving tropical can be grown as a shrub, vine, or espalier. Cape Honeysuckle is evergreen in frost free climates and is deciduous in the cooler portions of its range. Above zone 9 it is likely to freeze to the ground in winter but may return from the roots if mulched and protected although flowering may be reduced. Very good drought tolerance once well established.
