Nursery contributed plant descriptions

Ardisia crispa has thick elliptic dark green leaves, serrated edges..white flowers followed in winter with tiers of bright scarlet waxy berries. Native to China.
An upright multi-stemmed low evergreen shrub with deep green glossy wavy foliage. The creamy white flowers of spring develop into bright red 1 inch diameter berries by late fall and last well into spring. This is a good choice for areas with high shade or morning sun. Plant it in a moist, fertile, well-drained soil, preferably in a protected location, as they are susceptible to freeze damage at temperatures below 20 °F. The berries are not particularly preferred by birds unless other food is not readily available. Few pests or diseases are of major concern.
