Lagerstroemia 'Piroska' is a broadleaf deciduous tree with green foliage. In summer red flowers emerge. Attracts bees making it an excellent addition to pollinator gardens. Grows well with sun - mostly sun and regular water. Does well in well-drained soil.
An Almost Eden Exclusive introduction! Piroska produces large clusters of deep near-red blossoms in summer on a medium-size Crape Myrtle. Typical exfoliating bark and the interesting muscular trunks provide winter interest and expect good fall color in oranges and yellows. We have to say thank you to Greg Grant for sharing this wonderful selection with us!Not only do Crape Myrtles provide those beautiful flower clusters in summer and elegant peeling bark on mature trunks but they also have excellent fall color ranging from yellows, oranges, reds, and often purples. Provide your Crape Myrtles with as much sun as possible and ample nutrients since they flower on new growth to ensure you'll get plenty of those colorful flowers throughout summer. In zone 6 Crape Myrtles are often grown as die-back perennials and so should remain much shorter when grown in these regions.
