Not only is the lush blue-green foliage of this 5-6' shrub brightly edged with cream, it also produces masses of clear-pink double (sterile) flowers in late summer and being smaller than most Rose-of Sharon it fits into more garden spaces; a wonderful way to brighten up the landscape and bring in butterflies too! S/M USPP 20579
Eye-catching ‘Rose of Sharon’ shrub with sassy variegated foliage and pink, fully double flowers in late summer. This deciduous, pillar shaped shrub is about 6’ tall and 4’ wide, grows in most soils (even clay) and appreciates full sunshine and tolerates little water to regular water. This new cultivar does not set seed. Award winning, deer resistant, drought tolerant and easy to grow!
The blue-green foliage is edged in creamy white making this shrub standout even when it's not producing loads of 2" double pink flowers. Much more vigorous than the older variegated Altheas! The Rose of Sharon or Althea is an easily grown deciduous shrub that was a common pass along plant. This durable shrub is tolerant of a wide variety of soil types, is moderately drought tolerant once well established (though it will flower more with adequate moisture), and will provide many years of enjoyment with its procession of summer flowers.
