Nursery contributed plant descriptions

Semi double vibrant pink flowers appear in November-December. The deep green leaves are gorgeous on this arching shrub.
An old favorite, this Hiemalis (Sasanqua) Camellia offers handsome foliage all year, topped with semi-double to double showy deep pink-red fall-winter flowers, perfect for a BEEautiful informal hedge or single accent. S-PSh/M
A great dwarf evergreen shrub with a typically dense and compact habit which matures to 4'H x 4'W. Masses of 2" pink blooms are borne in November. Adaptable to sun or shade, but needs a moist acidic soil. An excellent dwarf evergreen shrub. A 2010 Louisiana Super Plant selection! The small leaved 'Sasanaqua' Camellias make excellent landscape or container plants and are much more tolerant of sun and soil conditions than the larger flowered Japonica Camellias. These durable evergreen shrubs cover themselves in 2-3" flowers in fall and early winter and before the flowers fade the petals fall individually to form a colorful blanket beneath the dark glossy green foliage. These dwarf Camellias are amenable to pruning and shearing which should be done in spring. Sasanquas do appreciate a humus-rich soil, an organic mulch, and average moisture until well-established.
