Nursery contributed plant descriptions

Plumeria or frangipani are tropical large shrubs or small trees with thick, succulent trunks and lush green paddle-shaped leaves. They are famous for their magnificent, boldly-coloured and sweetly-scented flowers used to make leis, the flower necklaces of Hawaii and other Pacific Islands. They are also used by various other cultures around the world. The flowers are often darkest in colour when they first emerge and lighten as they age. They are most strongly scented at night with notes of jasmine, citrus, gardenia, and other tropical fragrances. Grow them as a houseplant in winter with a summer vacation outside in the warmer months. They are drought tolerant but regular watering and fertilizing will get you the most flowers. 'Celadine' offers fragrant flowers with yellow petals with thin white edges. Our plants are about 1.5 feet tall.
Large clusters of rich yellow flowers are broadly edged in pure white and have the true Frangipani fragrance. The long lasting and sweetly fragrant flowers of this old Plumeria cultivar have made it a favorite among the Hawaiin lei makers and gardeners alike. Celandine is also known as Hawaiin Yellow, Common Yellow, and Graveyard Yellow.
